Description
I bought this Rena label printer about five years ago to use in my race for reelection as mayor of Hendersonville, TN. I used the printer for about two mail outs of 12,000 pieces each. A friend used it for two mail outs of perhaps 20,000 pieces each. I bought a letter stuffer and this printer from the same person. I believe he said he bought this label printer new and had used it for 80,000 pieces during his ownership, but it could have been the letter-folder-stuffer, I don't remember. I think he said he paid over $8,000.00. At any rate, it has seen little use and looks new. It is designed to print thousands of envelopes per hour and I think everything that has been printed on it could have been done in less than a week in a production environment. I turned it on, but could not figure out how to get a usage count. I suspect there is a way. I did not print anything because it does not have any ink cartridges installed. I have several cartridges, but they are five years old and may or may not still be good. Images of the display are shown in the pictures. We never used the conveyor other than in an initial trial. Even then we did not know how to hook it up to the printer. The conveyor has a serial port. Whether it can be controlled by the printer or not, I don't know. It does have a switch that starts it independent of the printer. It was made by a different manufacturer. We found that printing voter mail outs sorted by walk sequence to likely voters resulted in batches of two-hundred and fifty down to batches as small as five or ten letters. A conveyor was not necessary for such small batches. There appear to be 3 screws missing from the trim on one side, but it seems firmly affixed and the conveyor runs. I keep saying, “we” because I did not personally operate this machine other than handling the output a few times. I don't know how to operate it or evaluate it. I emailed Rena and got access to a manual in pdf format and a few other documents. The manual indicates a printing speed of 5,500 #10 envelopes per hour at 600dpi. I have seen much higher speeds claimed on eBay for similar machines, but don't know for sure about this model. Perhaps a software or firmware update would make the difference. We did find that it printed much faster than we could handle the output. The manuals are posted on my web site at these URLs: Rena DA-612 Manual.pdf Rena2.pdf Rena Sheet Separation Adjustment Tip.pdf Ei1Operations.pdf Ei1Addendum10_20_02.pdf These files are located at http://www.jim-fuqua.com/Rena These manuals are copywrited by Rena and are only posted for use with this machine. For any other use, contact Rena. If the sale price is $1,750.00 or above, I will give the purchaser ten days to examine the machine and return the machine for any reason, at the buyer's shipping cost. If the machine is returned in the same condition as shipped, I will refund the amount paid less shipping. If the purchase price is under $1,750.00, the sale will be “as is” because I think the machine, in its almost unused condition, is worth twice that amount. Many of the internal parts appear to be machined from very thick aluminum. It would be very difficult to damage the functionality of this machine. If some minor problem exists on receipt the buyer could probably easily have it fixed at a Rena dealer, but don't think that will be necessary. Remember “as is” if purchased for less than $1,750.00 and a ten-day return satisfaction guarantee (less shipping cost) for a purchase price of $1,750.00 or above. These machines are sold “as is” and without warranty of any kind including implied warranties other than the limited return option listed above.  Printer and conveyor are sold together and may not be returned separately for a partial refund. Buyer shall contact seller within 3 days of auction close and pay within seven days of auction close. Accepted forms of payment are: PayPal, Money Order, or Cashiers Check. Shipment will be delayed until money order or check clears. Customer must inspect all goods upon receipt and notify seller within 48 hours to let me know if the item is damaged or in a condition other than described in the auction. Items damaged in shipping are not included in the "satisfaction guarantee", and will be processed through shipping insurance claims.  Please retain all damaged item packing material for insurance reasons. If there is any problem, call Jim Fuqua at 615 822-4400 or jimfuqua@comcast.net Sale is FOB Hendersonville, TN. I will ship it at buyer's cost – no more, no less. This is a heavy machine. I would guess that shipping with insurance could approach $100.00, but will have no certain knowledge of shipping cost until I know the destination and packaging cost. eBay now requires a shipping cost. I estimated what I think is high, but will only charge the actual cost of packaging and shipping at the local Pony Mailbox and Business Center or such other shipper as you may direct.
