Description
NEW! 2008 Edition includes 2005 and 2007 season statistics along with 74 different ball park photo background and matching ball park effects by year range. Featured in ESPN Tourney and CBS “ DYNASTY League Baseball is, without contest, the most realistic baseball simulation on the market today. — Greg Salvatore Official Arizona Diamondbacks Magazine For more than 20 years, discerning baseball fans looking for the most realistic Baseball Manager experience have played this landmark baseball simulation strategy game that originated as the Pursue the Pennant board game. “Is the most lifelike, most intriguing, most enjoyable baseball game yet devised… (it’s) the baseball equivalent of Monopoly.” — Michael Bauman Milwaukee Journal Join an Official on-line league! Draft and trade as GM for the most realistic Fantasy Baseball experience or compete in a bracket style Greatest Teams tournament. “If you are playing in Fenway Park, you can hit a ball into the screen above the Green Monster in left field for a home run. In Yankee Stadium, you can hit a ball into the monuments and document how many feet the ball traveled.” Chuck Johnson — USA TODAY “...skillfully walks the line between realistic recreation and bogging things down with so many variables you would think Gene Mauch designed it.” Jim Caple — ST. PAUL PIONEER PRESS DISPATCH / ESPN.COM …But the depth and realism of the baseball simulation is what matters most. By that standard this game performs brilliantly. Dynasty League is a computerized version of a much older board game from the 1980’s called Pursue the Pennant. That game allowed players to use dice rolls and player cards to play a realistic baseball game or, as many did, an entire imaginary season. The mechanics of the original game – in which dice rolls determined everything – are still kept in the PC version. This gives the game a much greater transparency than other games of it’s kind. With a strong sense of realism and the grounding of the original board game, Dynasty League provides many options for both the hard-core simulation gamer and the casual baseball fan. The Inside scoop By Devin Clancy — USA TODAY Sports Weekly review May 16-22 Edition on sale through Tuesday May 22 (BJ Upton cover) GAME FEATURES: Transparency of play results: Open system lets you see how play results are resolved, exposing all of the underlying realism in the game. The direct translation from the board version gives you a critical strategic understanding of the logic behind determining play results. “I don’t like magic. There’s no transparency in other games. There’s no real way of digging into it and figuring out what the logic behind determining the results is. That’s the beauty of the table game. How does a player’s range rating affect the game? You don’t have a clue in other computer games on how ratings are used and when. In fact, you could have ratings that the computer never used and no one would know.” — Dave Sausser La Mirada, CA Actual vs. Lefty-Righty stats: You’ll discover which left-handed hitters are vulnerable to lefty hurlers and which pitchers devastate right hand batters. Games will hang in the balance based on your strategic decisions on who to platoon, pinch hit, bring in from the bullpen or make a double switch with. Visualization of plays: Bang-Bang plays on slow rollers, diving stops of smashes up the middle, balls getting thru deep in the hole, snow cone catches of sinking liners and diving catches of balls shot in the gap are just a small sampling of an incredible number of plays you’ll experience with the play-by-play text descriptions. Situational pitching and hitting: Pitching out of a jam, rarely walking the leadoff man and giving up a low percentage of HR with runners on-base gives unsurpassed realism in duplicating pitcher ERA’s. Hitters who come through in the clutch, will do the same for you. HR off Camden Yards B&O warehouse is one of the many varied HR results. Spectacular ball park backgrounds for each park included. Balls will carry further on warm days in Wrigley Field than on cold nights in Pac Bell Park in each of seven different outfield locations. The wind may blow out at a light 0-9 mph breeze or whip out at 20-29 mph with lots of souvenirs for the bleacher bums and fans on Waveland and Sheffield Avenues. Defensive ratings: Range, Error, Throwing, DP pivot, Passed Ball and Catcher handling of pitchers complete the defensive spectrum NOTE: Orders can be made via M/V/AE credit cards directly via phone in checkout.
