Use: This Cisco AS5850 is a universal VOIP/Voice and Data access server with dual DC power, supporting both SIP and H.323, all voice codecs, and data/dialup service. It uses the same CT3 and voice/data cards as the Cisco AS5400, AS5400HPX, and AS5400XM. In terms of performance, this AS5850 outperforms the AS5400 XM and at a much lower price per port. AS5850 buyers should beware of two ways that AS5850s can vary. First, the unit's RSC "CPU" - which also handles 10/100/1000 ethernet may be the older, slower 250MHZ processor, or the new eRSC with the faster 650MHZ processor (with performance that eclipses the AS5400, HPX, and XM CPUs). On the AS5850, the eRSC is virtually a requirement if the unit is to be used for VOIP applications. Similarly, there are two versions of installable feature cards (CT3 and UPC cards) - the newer versions have an enhanced backplane with reduced power consumption and lower heat generation.  Our units all come equipped with the newest and fastest CPU and feature cards, but it is not uncommon to find the older, obsolete versions from other sellers. Please call us at 216-896-9967for details.
